Biography

Debra Richardson joined The University of Texas at Dallas after teaching in the UNT Risk Management & Insurance department for 6 years. Prior to her academic career, she spent 30 years in the property and casualty insurance industry, most recently as regional vice president for Hanover Insurance Group. She teaches Risk Management and Insurance courses while building and directing the new program launched in 2015. She also serves as Faculty Advisor for Gamma Iota Sigma Beta Phi Chapter, the international professional fraternity for RMI and actuarial science students. Debra is on the board of directors for Our Friends Place, Texas Risk & Insurance Professionals, Dallas Chapter CPCU, Fort Worth Chapter CPCU, and Gamma Iota Sigma. She serves on both the CPCU Society’s and Gamma Iota Sigma’s Student Education Task Forces and the Loman Education Foundation. She is a national faculty member for The Institutes for Insurance Education. Ms. Richardson holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM) and Associate in Insurance (AINS) professional designations. She earned her Bachelor in Business Management degree from Dallas Baptist University, and her Master of Business Administration degree from The University of North Texas.
