Biography

Jennifer Lee is an associate in the Costa Mesa office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. Jennifer’s practice spans from risk management and compliance to incident response to litigation. Jennifer advises clients on their data security strategy and helps clients proactively prepare for an incident by developing an incident response plan tailored to each client’s business needs. On the compliance side, Jennifer assists clients in navigating the complex patchwork of cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulations, such as HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, GLBA, and the NYDFS Cybersecurity Regulations. Once an incident occurs, Jennifer advises clients in their response efforts and coordinates digital forensics and remediation, facilitates the fulfillment of any applicable notice and reporting obligations, and responds to government, regulatory, and media inquiries. In addition, Jennifer represents clients in civil litigation matters involving cybersecurity and privacy issues.

Jennifer brings unique insight from her experience on the plaintiff’s side where she litigated class actions alleging violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Michigan Video Rental Privacy Act, Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, and state UDAP statutes. She also has several years of experience representing broker-dealers and registered investment advisors in customer and industry disputes, regulatory inquiries, and enforcement actions.

Ms. Lee received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and Media Studies, while minoring in French Literature. Ms. Lee then received her Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law. While at Northwestern, Ms. Lee served as a Notes Editor on the Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property and as the Firm Liaison & Communications Chair for the Arts and Entertainment Law Society. She was also a member of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association.
