Generation Y, or "Millennials", consist of men and women who were born after 1983, and this generation makes up 27% of the population in the United States.  Millennials represent an increasingly larger and important segment of the jury pool.  Research demonstrates that millennials have different attitudes, beliefs and communication styles as compared to prior generations.  It is critical, therefore, when conducting discovery and proceeding to trial, that claims professionals, risk managers as well as defense counsel are mindful of the values and characteristics that define Millennials.  The presentation of a case, at trial, must take into consideration the unique perspectives and values that Millennials bring to the table.
