Paul S. DeGiulio, Senior Vice President General Casualty and Healthcare Claims for Allied World first came to Bermuda in late 2002 to work for American International Group as AVP Claims for the AIG company then known as Starr Excess and Allied World, then a privately held company managed in large part by its majority investor AIG. By 2004, Paul was fully employed with Allied World and has participated in the management of its claim department from the start, handling claims, managing staff and establishing policies and procedures. From 1997 to 2002, he handled toxic tort, pharmaceutical claims, premises liability claims, and catastrophic bodily injury and property damage claims for AIG. For approximately 9 years prior to that he worked as a litigator for a regional firm based in Newark, New Jersey. In that capacity, he worked on and led teams handling a variety of litigation, including insurance coverage matters, products liability and mass tort defense, insurance defense, and various other commercial matters.

Joshua R. Schwartz is General Counsel, Secretary and Regional Compliance Officer for ACE Bermuda Insurance Ltd. His responsibilities include providing legal advice on professional lines, excess liability, property and reinsurance claims; participating in mediations, arbitrations and other litigation; counseling underwriters on policy wording and reinsurance (fac and treaty) wording; assisting with new insurance product development; ensuring compliance with applicable rules and regulations; and providing advice on risk management issues. He sits on the ACE Bermuda Risk, Management Audit, Reserving, Pension and Investment Committees. Josh is also a founder and the president of CLM Bermuda.Josh joined ACE INA in 2006 as Associate General Counsel - Litigation in New York, where he worked on corporate litigation, including the contingent commission/alleged bid-rigging litigation and regulatory matters, and internal investigations. Prior to joining ACE, he worked as Counsel at O'Melveny & Myers LLP representing clients on a variety matters, including insurance, securities, white collar, mass tort, pharmaceutical, bankruptcy and commercial litigation. He also worked as an Associate at Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson and as Law Clerk to the Hon. Federico A. Moreno, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. While practicing law in New York, Josh taught a mediation course at New York University School of Continuing and Professional Services. He graduated Order of the Coif from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Rhode Island. In law school, Josh served as Notes Editor for the Cardozo Law Review.

Paul R. Koepff is a senior equity partner at Clyde & Co. Tawana joined Bowring Marsh (Bermuda) Ltd. as Claims Advocate, Assistant Vice President in the Claims and Compliance Department in 2012, and advises on all lines of coverage placed by Bowring Marsh Bermuda including Property, Casualty, Healthcare and Professional Lines. In her role she addresses broker inquires on policy wording, claims and compliance issues; acts as a liaison between clients and insurers when dealing with complex coverage and claims issues; and negotiates with clients, insurers, adjusters and lawyers to facilitate claim resolution.Prior to joining Bowring Marsh, Tawana held the position of Crown Counsel in the Department of Public Prosecutions [DPP], The Ministry of Justice, Bermuda Government. There she conducted criminal litigation in the Magistrate’s Court, Supreme Court and appeared before the Court of Appeal, provided legal opinions on criminal liability and served on the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board. Before becoming a prosecutor Tawana worked in Parliamentary Drafting, in the Attorney General’s Chambers. She is also the former Director of the Center for Alcohol and Drug Abuse prevention, where she was instrumental in developing the Bermuda Government’s liquor licensing legislation.Tawana is called to the Bermuda Bar and the Bar of England and Wales and is a member of The Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn .
