Dr. Alexander is licensed as a psychologist in North Carolina. She has a Ph.D. in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and she completed a postdoctoral residency in Health Psychology at the University of Michigan -VA Postdoctoral Psychology Consortium.
Dr. Alexander has served an essential role as part of The Rehab Center’s interdisciplinary team for the last two years, and came to us with prior experience with multidisciplinary treatment teams in rehabilitation settings. She conducts cognitive behavior therapy in both individual and group formats, as part of the Functional Restoration Program and as a treating psychologist for injured workers with PTSD, brain injury, and psychological sequels of workplace injuries. She has also worked extensively with brain injury patients and is familiar with the use and interpretation of neuropsychological evaluations.

Dr. Adam Orban is a clinical pharmacist liaison with Helios and has significant experience evaluating complex pharmacotherapeutic pain management issues confronting the workers’ compensation industry. He is highly skilled in performing therapeutic reviews and interventions for workers’ compensation claims. As a dedicated leader in clinical pharmacy services, he has more than ten years of experience as a registered pharmacist in both clinical and patient-focused environments.
Dr. Orban regularly participates in various educational activities for nurses, adjusters, pharmacists, and other practitioners within the workers’ compensation industry as well as other healthcare venues. Prior to his position at Helios, he served as a clinician specializing in HIV, Hepatitis B and C medicine at a large community based clinic.
Dr. Orban holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University, College of Pharmacy and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Florida. He is licensed as a registered pharmacist in the states of Florida, Ohio, and California and is a member of the American Academy of Pain Management and the Florida Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Samuel H. Poole, Jr. (Lee) began his legal career in the Raleigh office of the firm over twenty years ago. Fifteen years ago, Lee was selected to open a Charlotte office for the firm. Lee has been a partner for many years, and he continues to practice in the Charlotte office of Cranfill Sumner & Hartzog in the area of litigation. Represented, as co-counsel, a nursing home in Mecklenburg County in which Plaintiff alleged negligent care resulted in Stage IV decubitus ulcers and sepsis. The jury returned a verdict of no negligence.
Represented a company in a premise liability/negligent security case and two week trial, resulting in a defense verdict, where plaintiff alleged that jewelry valued in excess of 1.2 million dollars was stolen.
Represented a large trucking company in a two-week jury trial in Lincoln County in which a defense verdict was obtained based on “sudden emergency.”
Represented, as co-counsel, a professional sports team and obtained a stay of proceedings in state court against the team on a personal injury action filed by a former player. Case was dismissed in arbitration. Presented oral arguments to NC Court of Appeals in support of stay and dismissal. Trial court’s decisions were affirmed.
Represented an LLC in a six- to seven-week trial brought by seven landowners who lived in the immediate vicinity of the client’s operation. Plaintiffs sought damages in the neighborhood of $1 million dollars and the court’s final award was $75,000.
Represented, as co-counsel, an OB/GYN group in a malpractice claim in which our firm was able to convince the plaintiffs’ attorney to take a dismissal of the action based on the testimony of our physicians and the child’s treating physicians.
Represented a general contractor in a three-day binding arbitration regarding water intrusion into a commercial building, as co-counsel, on a counterclaim for damages in the amount of roughly $250,000. The arbitrator ruled in favor of the client/construction company.
Successfully represented an insurance carrier in a UIM/wrongful death arbitration before a three-person panel of arbitrators.
Represented, as co-counsel, a southeastern US law firm in federal court and obtained a dismissal of malpractice action seeking class action status and damages in excess of 5 million dollars.

Nicholas P. Valaoras (Nick) has represented employers and workers’ compensation insurance carriers in evidentiary and appellate hearings before the North Carolina Industrial Commission, North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court since 1992.
Nick has experience in handling traumatic injury by accident cases, occupational disease, repetitive motion disorders, asbestosis, and permanent-total disability claims. He has obtained favorable results for defendants at mediations and in litigation before the Industrial Commission and Court of Appeals.
Nick has also served as a mediator in Industrial Commission cases.
