Biography

Michael L. Golding serves as a Regional Claims Manager for Starr Companies and is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylania, where he manages claims arising in the Primary & Excess Energy and Architects & Engineers profit centers. 

In his role as Energy Claims Manager, Michael is responsible for oversight and evaluation of all 3rd party liability claims (including GL, Business Auto and WC) made under primary polices are underwritten through the Energy profit center, as well as claims made under excess and umbrella liability policies underwritten through Excess Energy - National Accounts profit center. He also has responsibility for evaluating coverage issues that arise in connection with claims made under these policies and coordinating coverage positions with regard to defense and indemnity issues.

Michael also manages claims brought against architects and engineers under professional liability policies and is responsible for evaluating liability claims as well as the availability of coverage under professional liability policies.

Michael received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in 1990 and his law degree from The Georgetown University Law Center in 1993. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and Ohio. Prior to joining Starr Companies, Michael was an attorney with Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons, L.L.P. in Houston, Texas, where he handled casualty, complex commercial, energy, product liability and professional liability matters throughout the United States. During the past two decades, he has served as trial counsel in multiple state and federal courts, including cases venued in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.  He also maintained an insurance coverage practice which involved authoring coverage opinions and representing domestic insurers and London market companies in coverage litigation arising under CGL, D&O, E&O, commercial property, energy package and professional liability policies.
