Biography

Dana Marie Applegate is Regional Head of Alternative Risk Transfer Claims for North America and Bermuda at Allianz Commercial. In this role, she oversees claims teams in New York and Bermuda managing a diverse portfolio of international insurance and reinsurance claims, including CAT and non-CAT exposures, multi-line structured transactions, and complex alternative risk transfer solutions for corporate and financial clients globally.

Ms. Applegate brings more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, primarily in claims leadership roles. Prior to joining Allianz in 2026, she served as Senior Vice President of Claims at Coaction Specialty Insurance (formerly ProSight Specialty), where she led Litigation Management, Subrogation, Special Investigations, Claims Quality, Claims Systems, London Syndicate run-off, and legacy asbestos, environmental, and mass tort exposures.

Earlier, she was Director of Claims Vendor and Litigation Management at Markel, managing more than $200 million in annual legal spend across U.S. and Bermuda claims operations spanning 25 product lines. She has also held claims and project management roles with international assignments in London and Toronto.

Ms. Applegate is a frequent speaker on leadership, analytics, legal management, and advancing women in the workplace. She holds a degree in Political Science from The College of New Jersey and is a Certified Litigation Management Professional.
