Heather Friedl

Biography

Heather Friedl is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an alumna of DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, IL. She currently serves as Assistant General Counsel & Assistant Corporate Secretary for Society Insurance, a commercial general liability insurance carrier serving the retail and hospitality industries across WI, IL, IN, IA, TN, MN, CO, GA, and TX.

In her role, Heather oversees litigation across all jurisdictions where Society Insurance operates. She monitors compliance matters and provides strategic insight and guidance to internal stakeholders as well as outside defense counsel. Her litigation oversight commonly includes claims involving slip-and-falls, dram shop liability, bar altercations, and automobile accidents.

Heather is a seasoned insurance defense attorney with more than 20 years of experience and is licensed in both Wisconsin and Illinois. Prior to joining Society Insurance 15 years ago, she practiced as an insurance defense litigator in Chicago, with cases concentrated in Cook County and extending throughout the state, including in federal court. She represented several major national insurance carriers and has tried cases to verdict on their behalf.

With extensive experience as both outside counsel and in-house counsel, Heather brings a unique and well-rounded perspective to insurance litigation. Her background allows her to offer meaningful insight into the complex—and often fascinating—landscape of insurance claims and defense strategy.
