Steve Bent serves as the Executive Director of TXANS and the Employment and Economic Policy Council (EEPC). TXANS business members provide employee workplace injury benefits outside of workers' compensation and the EEPC focuses on improving employment opportunities and innovative ways to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses. During Steve's tenure TXANS has grown to represent business that have a direct impact of nearly $40 billion and total value added impact of $20 billion annually on the Texas economy. Steve speaks on workplace policy and benefit issues and some hosts have included the Risk & Insurance Management Society, Society of Human Resource Management, Self Insurance Institute of America, Institute of Business Law, Texas Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, Pioneer Institute for Public Policy Research and the World Research Group on Predictive Modeling in Workers' Compensation. Steve supported the first comprehensive analysis of workplace injuries and illnesses in Texas, led by the University of Houston Health Law and Policy Institute and co-developed a workplace safety training program for employers through the University of North Texas and supported studies on tort and moral hazard impacts by Princeton and the University of Minnesota. Steve is currently a member of the American Society of Association Executives and serves in an advisory capacity on the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health National Occupational Research Agenda. Steve holds a number of professional designations including certification as a Certified Association Executive, Certified Self-Funding Specialist and a Certified Workers’ Compensation Professional.
