Biography

Bill is the Firm’s managing attorney, with more than two decades of trial experience in litigating high exposure cases in Trucking, Busing, Products Liability, Personal Injury Defense, and Municipal and Premises Liability matters.Bill began his career at one of Buffalo’s oldest law firms, O’Shea, Reynolds and Cummings, where he was named a partner in 1996. In 2005 he joined the firm of Kenney, Shelton, Liptak & Nowak, LLP, also as a partner. Throughout his career his practice has focused on defending the interests of those subjected to a civil trial.Bill began The Long Firm in 2008 with a simple goal - to offer clients two decades of defense trial experience that has earned the respect of both the bench and bar. The Long Firm’s clients’ legal matters are handled aggressively, yet in a manner that leads to resolution rather than drawn out and costly litigation. He has successfully defended hundreds of individuals, businesses, and municipalities exposed to lawsuits brought by parties claiming injury. A significant portion of Bill’s practice over the past twenty years has involved defending school bus and coach operators. Bill’s experience in representing the interests of businesses whose focus involves the public transportation of school students is unsurpassed in the western portion of New York.In addition to his many professional memberships, Bill has lectured to both professional and industry audiences. He has spoken on behalf of the New York State Bar Association and others on topics such as The Wrongful Death Case in New York; Products Liability; The Use of a Biomechanical Expert in Minor Soft Injury Tissue Cases; The Anatomy of the Civil Trial in New York; Defending the Supplemental Uninsured and Underinsured Claim in New York and An Overview of New York State No-fault Law from a Claims Perspective.President of: Claims Litigation Management Alliance – Buffalo, NY ChapterMember of: American Bar Association, Negligence Committee/Association of American Trial/Buffalo Claims AssociationClaims Litigation Management Alliance/Erie County Bar Association /Erie County Defense Attorneys/Lawyers Defense Research Institute/New York State Bar Association, Negligence Committee/New York State Business Council/New York State Motor Truck Association/New York State School Bus Contractors Association/Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS)/Western New York Defense Trial Lawyers, Former Director/Western New York Insurance Association
