Maria Quintero

Biography

Practice Focus Maria Quintero devotes her practice at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP in San Francisco, California to complex insurance coverage disputes at the pre-trial, trial and appellate court levels involving a broad range of insurance lines including property, cyber, environmental impairment, commercial general and professional liability policies.  Ms. Quintero's practice also concentrates on specialty insurance litigation, bad faith defense, and insurance agent and broker liability claims. She develops training on industry best practices and also presents and comments frequently on emerging insurance and technology topics.
 
Maria Quintero's accomplishments include securing a defense verdict in a month-long jury trial involving claims of bad faith and products liability and obtaining an award of expert witness costs and fees in favor of the defendant insurer. She has successfully opposed a writ of certiori in the U.S. Supreme Court and prevailed on numerous dispositive motions at trial and appellate court levels including motions involving additional insured issues; primary and excess issues; Coverage B; constitutional and common law claims for due process; and use of policy proceeds under directors and officers policies involving multiple claimants.
 
In addition to her practice, Ms. Quintero serves as a Board of Director for the Northern California and Nevada Association of Defense Counsel where she chairs both the Diversity Committee and Substantive Law Committee.  She is also a CLM National Co-Chair for the Extra Contractual Committee and serves on the Northern California chapter committee for CLM.   She is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel ("FDCC"), the National Association of Women Lawyers ("NAWL"), the Professional Liability Underwriting Society ("PLUS") and the San Francisco Bar Association ("BASF").  She can be contacted at mquintero@hinshawlaw.com.
