David Mercer

Biography

David Mercer is a partner in the Tampa, Florida office of Butler Pappas Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP.  He practices in the areas of third party extra-contractual claims, including bad faith, insurance fraud and coverage issues as well as general liability matters. He has extensive trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts in many areas of civil litigation, including insurance bad faith, insurance coverage and liability defense.  Most of David’s work involves the defense of insurance clients in extracontractual claims arising from liability coverages, as well as the litigation of general liability issues.
David received his Bachelor of Science  from Florida State University in 1995, and his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the University of Miami in 1995.  He is admitted to practice in all courts of the State of Florida, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, and  the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit
David is a frequent lecturer at insurance industry events on issues pertaining to bad faith and insurance coverage and has been awarded the designation of Certified Litigation Management Professional from CLM.
