Biography

A. Janay Ferguson is of counsel with Scheer & Zehnder, LLP. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation, the defense of professionals, and employment law. Ms. Ferguson’s legal practice benefits from her experience as a corporate financial analyst. As a financial analyst, Ms. Ferguson handled shareholder relations, analyzed production targets for a multinational telecommunications manufacturer, and developed comprehensive capital, revenue, and expense budgets for a national wireless telecommunications provider.

Ms. Ferguson’s business background enhances her ability to analyze conflicts and seek practical solutions. She has defended attorneys, accountants, realtors, and businesses from a variety of claims, including those arising from corporate dissolution, employment disputes, significant personal injury claims, and malpractice. Ms. Ferguson has investigated employment claims involving harassment and discrimination. She advises technology and financial companies on employment agreements, policy development and best practices.

Ms. Ferguson has successfully tried cases throughout Washington and successfully briefed and argued cases on appeal. A magna cum laude graduate of the Seattle University School of Law, Ms. Ferguson was a judicial clerk to Justice Charles W. Johnson of the Washington Supreme Court. Washington Law & Politics named her a “Rising Star” in 2005, 2006, and 2009.
