Tommy Short

Biography

Tommy Short began his career in insurance in 1981 after serving eight years in local law enforcement in Victoria, TX and Lakewood, CO. He worked with Farmers Insurance Group as a Special Investigator and Division Agency Manager, with Nationwide Insurance as a Special Investigator, SIU Manager and SIU Director, and is currently with ACCC Insurance as Lead SIU Investigator.  He hold the designations of Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator and Senior Claims Law Associate.

Tommy has also been very active in industry associations, having been elected as President of both the Texas Association of Special Investigation Units and the International Association of Special Investigation Units.  As a recognized expert in insurance fraud investigation and management, Tommy has been a sought after speaker, being invited to speak at the Nordic Summit on Insurance Fraud in Denmark, the ASTIN (International Actuarial Association) Conference in Norway, the European Chapter of IASIU in Germany, and in the US, at the conferences of Society for Certified Property and Casualty Underwriters, National Association of Insurance Commissioners, National Council of Compensation Insurers, The West African Intelligence Conference sponsored by the U.S. Secret Service, among others.  Tommy has also taught both Basic and Advance Casualty Fraud Investigation at the NICB Training Academy.
