Ronald B. Morrison Jr. Head of Claims, SVP – Alternative Markets Division Great American Insurance Group
Ron Morrison leads a dynamic multi-line claims operation, overseeing teams managing various aspects of claims, including casualty, commercial auto, property, worker’s compensation, subrogation, operations, data analytics, and TPA oversight. With a team of 65 members, he ensures the divisional claims operation runs smoothly.
Ron considers himself a talent collector, assembling a unique blend of experience and energy to make a difference. His teams share a common purpose: providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing expenses to achieve appropriate claim outcomes. Notably, Ron boasts an impressive employee retention rate of over 95% during his tenure as Head of Claims.
Alternative Markets, a program division, prides itself on developing industry-specific knowledge for each unique program. They manage claims with expertise and efficiency. The division writes business nationally, approaching $300 million in premium, consistently maintaining a combined operating ratio (COR) under 93.5 over the past several years.
Ron is a hands-on leader, actively involved in the claims process. He believes in a boots-on-the-ground approach to managing large losses, ensuring his team personally fulfills promises to insured individuals during their greatest times of need.
His journey in the claims industry began in 1996 as a multi-line field adjuster in Charlotte, NC. Ron’s expertise spans all lines, with a particular focus on large casualty and property losses. His greatest strength lies in bringing practicality and emotional intelligence to complex and often tragic issues, forging a path toward resolution.
In his leisure time, Ron enjoys family moments, spending time with friends, fishing, and running his dogs in field trials.
