Biography

Brian concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance coverage, excess monitoring, cyber and professional liability and general liability. He represents insurance companies in complex claim disputes, declaratory judgment actions, and appeals. His work encompasses third-party coverage disputes involving primary and excess liability policies, as well as multi-million dollar first-party coverage disputes regarding obligations under commercial property and inland marine policies. Brian counsels excess insurers on their rights and obligations in multi-million dollar third party claims. Brian handles coverage analysis under all types of professional liability, D&O, commercial general liability and cyber policies. He also provides policy drafting services to clients.

Brian is very experienced in cyber matters. He represents insurance companies in complex claim disputes and declaratory judgment actions involving the interpretation of standalone cyber policies and endorsements affording data breach coverage. Brian has authored articles discussing the scope of coverage provided by cyber policies and is a frequent speaker on cyber coverage topics, including federal and state data breach notification laws.

Brian also acts as breach counsel to guide entities in the investigation and response to data breach and privacy incidents. He provides prompt recommendations to clients to ensure they take the proper steps to safeguard their interests while complying with state and federal notification laws. Brian is a trusted advisor to clients when they are faced with responding to exposure of sensitive and confidential information, and he takes pride in ensuring that clients preserve their hard-earned reputation and minimize potential liability.
