Biography
Chris Piety is Vice President, Underwriting Counsel and Professional Lines Risk Management at Aspen Insurance where he divides his time between providing risk management assistance to Aspen’s professional liability policyholders and advising Underwriting on risk issues and product development. He has over 25 years of experience in the professional liability claims business, including 10 years as an attorney defending professionals in malpractice claims, and 15 years as a claims professional handling a variety of professional liability claims against accountants, lawyers, real estate professionals, design professionals, title agents, consultants, public entities, and other miscellaneous professionals. Prior to joining Aspen, Mr. Piety was the Vice President of Claims at CAMICO Mutual Insurance Company, and a former partner at the Los Angeles law firm of Garrett & Tully. Mr. Piety is an attorney admitted to practice in California. He is a licensed adjuster in 17 states, and a licensed Property & Casualty and Surplus Lines broker in California. He received his BA in Slavic Languages and Literature from the University of California Santa Barbara, and his Juris Doctorate degree from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco.
