Biography

Patrick J. Kenny is a trial lawyer with emphasis on complex litigation and appellate work including bad faith and insurance coverage disputes, ERISA litigation (welfare benefits, fiduciary duty, and pension), subrogation, business "divorces," non-compete and trade secret cases, fraud and business torts. He has tried cases to verdict in Missouri and Illinois. Patrick has been listed as a Top Rated Lawyer in Commercial Litigation by Martindale-Hubbell and American Lawyer Media (ALM) since 2012, been listed as a Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers / Super Lawyers Business Edition since 2010, and has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America for Insurance Law since 2007. He also has been active with an international law group, Lex Mundi, for many years, currently serving as the Chair of the Insurance/Reinsurance Practice Group. He graduated cum laude (Order of the Coif) from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law in 1990. After law school he served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. Pasco Bowman of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. Patrick joined Armstrong Teasdale LLP in 1993 and has been a partner with the firm since 2000. He publishes and presents extensively on matters related to insurance, fraud, and expert witnesses. Some of his more recent presentations include "Insurance Dispute Resolution – U.S. Perspective," Lex Mundi Insurance/Reinsurance Cross-Border Legal Summit in Munich, Germany, "Selected Coverage Issues – Missouri Law," Client Webinar Presentation, and a joint presentation on Evolving Law of Insurance Bad Faith for the Missouri Bar scheduled for the fall. He has served as the Editor-in-Chief of Daubert Online and served for many years as a member of the Steering Committee and Expert Witness Chair for DRI’s Commercial Litigation Committee. Patrick also long has been active in professional and civic organizations including the Board of Trustees and Parents Coordinating Counsel (PCC) Board at the Academy of the Sacred Heart, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), St. Louis Chapter, and Alpha Chi Sigma (AXS) Chemistry Fraternity, St. Louis Prof. Chapter.
