Biography

As an Assistant Vice President of Allied World Assurance Company, Tom is responsible for the management of complex litigation and high severity exposures in medical malpractice claims throughout the country.  He has over 18 years of claims and legal experience.

Before entering the insurance industry, Tom served as a Law Clerk to Justice Bowman of the Appellate Court of Illinois, following which he practiced at Alholm and Monahan and Cassiday, Schade and Gloor in Chicago, where he specialized in the defense of hospitals, physicians, and long-term care facilities.  He handled all aspects of the defense of his clients, including depositions and trials (solo and second chair).

In 2002, Tom served as a Senior Claims Representative at CNA HealthPro.  Immediately prior to joining Allied World, Tom spent six years as the Claims Litigation Manager at American Physicians Assurance/The Doctors Company, where he monitored, evaluated, and provided direction and recommendations to the claim analysts and defense counsel on all high severity exposures in the company.

Tom received a B.S. in History from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and a Juris Doctorate with Honors at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he won numerous awards in the Moot Court Honor Society and served as a Legal Writing Teaching Assistant his final year.
