Biography
Alan is currently a Manager of GL Claims in the Casualty Claims department of Markel Corporation, a surplus lines insurance carrier. He is responsible for managing a team of claims professionals handling general liability claims and lawsuits across the entire United States and its territories. Prior to joining Markel in January of 2014, he was a trial and litigation attorney for over 20 years. Most recently, he was a litigation partner at a medium size Chicago law firm defending hospitals, physicians and medical groups in medical malpractice lawsuits and also handled various commercial litigation matters. He is licensed in both California and Illinois. Alan attended The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1989, and received his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law in 1992.
