Peter Loughlin

Biography

Peter J. Loughlin is a Vice President and Managing Attorney for Litigation at Assurant Specialty Property and Assurant Solutions in Atlanta, Georgia, where he leads a team of attorneys and paralegals that manage the company’s nationwide first and third party claims litigation related to its insurance policies, warranties, and service plans for the Specialty Property and Solutions business segments.  Peter joined Assurant in 2006 as Director for Litigation at Assurant Health in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and has been in his current position since 2008.  Prior to joining Assurant, Peter was a Senior Associate for complex commercial litigation and white-collar defense at the Washington, D.C. offices of Hunton & Williams from 2001 to 2006 and served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy Judge Advocate General Corps as a prosecutor in Norfolk, Virginia from 1997 to 2001.  Peter is a graduate of St. Alphonsus College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and received his Juris Doctorate from Notre Dame Law School.  Peter is a member of the State Bars of New York, California, Washington, DC and Wisconsin.  Peter is also a member of CLM, ACC, ABA TIPS, and DRI and is a frequent speaker and panelist on insurance and litigation related topics.
