Biography

Christopher (“Chris”) Greene is a Partner in the Atlanta office of Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, where he serves as Chief Legal Officer and leads the firm’s Practice Support functions. He brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across the insurance and legal industries, with deep expertise in claims and litigation management, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk management, and complex commercial operations. Chris has held senior executive legal roles at national insurance organizations, where he regularly advised boards of directors and executive leadership on high-stakes legal, regulatory, and strategic matters.

Most recently, Chris served as Senior Advisor at Suite 200 Solutions, LLC, providing fractional general counsel support to clients.  Prior to that, he spent more than 15 years with Canal Insurance Company, a national property and casualty insurer, where he held several senior leadership roles, including General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Chief Claims Officer. In these capacities, he led enterprise-wide legal and claims organizations, managed large multidisciplinary teams, oversaw regulatory and legislative affairs, and directed complex litigation nationwide.

Earlier in his career, Chris served as Chief Counsel for a division of American International Group (AIG) and as a member of the Law Department at Progressive Insurance. Before transitioning in-house, he practiced as a trial attorney with a Birmingham, Alabama-based law firm, representing insurers and policyholders in state and federal courts.

Chris graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law and is admitted to to several state and federal bars.  He holds the Certified Claims Professional (CCP) and Advanced Claims Professional (ACP) designations from CLM.  In addition to his active membership in CLM, he is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), and the American Bar Association (ABA).  Chris has also been inducted into the American Bar Foundation as a Fellow.
