Biography

Philip Weis is the Director, Senior Employment Counsel for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., located in Ridgefield, CT.  Mr. Weis provides advice, counsel and training to management and Human Resources professionals, as well as specialists in the areas of compliance, employee health, security, and compensation and benefits. He coordinates the company’s responses to internal and external employment-related claims and litigation and is a member of the Company’s Compliance Investigation Review Committee.  Mr. Weis provides counsel related to recruitment and hiring, disability-related issues, performance management, discrimination, harassment and retaliation, termination of employment and the administration of contingent workers. He also participates in the design and delivery of policies and training programs.Mr. Weis has been practicing employment law as in-house and outside counsel for over 25 years. He specialized in management-side labor and employment law for ten years at Epstein Becker & Green P.C. While in private practice, Mr. Weis represented employers in a variety of industries in connection with employment-related claims and regulatory matters before federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and in mediations and labor arbitrations. Mr. Weis was in-house Employment Counsel for Pfizer Inc. for 12 years, before joining BI.Mr. Weis is a member of ACC. He is a certified facilitator for the “Civil Treatment” series of employment-related training and frequently presents seminars on a variety of employment-related topics within the company and for external legal and professional groups.Mr. Weis received his BA from the State University of New York at Albany, during which time he completed a legislative internship in the State Legislature. He received his JD from Hofstra University's School of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review.  He is admitted to practice in New York State and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
