Biography

Tim O’Hern was born and raised on his family’s farm in Vermont, Illinois where he was trained in the safe, sustainable and responsible production of agriculture. Thereafter, Tim attended law school at Southern Illinois University School of Law, graduating summa cum laude in 2010.

Following law school, Mr. O’Hern was admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. From 2011 through 2015 he was an associate at the law firm McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips, P.C. in St. Louis, Missouri. His practice focused on defending clients in a variety of federal and state civil litigation, including insurance bad faith claims, employment claims, tort claims defense, complex litigation, construction litigation, toxic torts and wrongful death.

Tim became interested in the medical cannabis industry in 2013 after seeing first-hand the profound impact of medical cannabis on family members with severe medical conditions. His interest coincided with the Illinois legislature’s pursuit of medical cannabis legislation, which eventually resulted in the passing of the Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program in Illinois. Tim and his family submitted an application to cultivate and process medical cannabis in 2014. In February 2015, Nature’s Grace and Wellness, was awarded the license to cultivate medical cannabis in Illinois State Police District 14 in a highly competitive application process. Nature’s Grace and Wellness subsequently became the first Illinois cultivation facility to distribute medical cannabis to licensed Illinois dispensaries and to Illinois patients when the program opened in November 2015. Nature’s Grace and Wellness remains one of the largest producers of medical cannabis in Illinois. Tim currently serves as a board member with Nature’s Grace and Wellness as well as its Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel. Tim was recently named by Marijuana Venture magazine as one of 40 under 40 rising stars in the cannabis industry.
