Ms. Borden graduated from Albion College in 1988, magna cum laude and with Phi Beta Kappa honors, with a BA in Psychology. In 1992, she graduated, cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Thereafter, Ms. Borden clerked for The Honorable Justice James H. Brickley (dec.) at the Michigan Supreme Court. Upon her return to Chicago, Ms. Borden was associated with the law firm of Querrey & Harrow, where she focused her practice on appellate and insurance defense litigation.
In December 2002, Ms. Borden joined Zurich North America as a Senior Environmental Claim Specialist. Approximately one year later, she was named the Regional Litigation Manager for Zurich’s specialty lines of business. In September 2008, Ms. Borden assumed a management role in Zurich’s legal bill review department, recognized as the largest group of legal invoice auditors in the country. Beginning in September 2014, Ms. Borden took on an underwriting role in Zurich's Primary Casualty Product Underwriting group. She supports The Zurich Way of Underwriting by working with GL market-facing underwriters to help them achieve their business objectives. She also contributes to the development and implementation of underwriting strategies and the overall development of underwriting technical standards, controls and best practices for the GL line of business.
