Katherine Keefe

Biography

 Katherine joined Beazley in September 2012 to lead the Beazley Breach Response Services Group (BBR Services).  As head of BBR Services, Katherine directs the management of breach incidents reported by Beazley BBR policyholders and develops Beazley’s risk management services designed to minimize the occurrence and impacts of data breaches.  With over 25 years as a practicing lawyer, Katherine has extensive experience in data privacy and security issues and the regulatory and operational challenges of data breaches.  A nationally known HIPAA expert, Katherine has provided regulatory compliance and breach response guidance to clients in the health care segment, an industry profoundly impacted by federal and state privacy laws and regulations. Katherine has counselled hundreds of entities facing privacy, security and data breach issues, including health systems, academic medical centers, children’s hospitals, long term care and rehabilitation providers, accountable care organizations, physician practices, pharmacies, health insurers and employer sponsored health plans.  Katherine also represented vendors to the health care industry, including billing companies, IT solutions providers, health information exchanges and quality and utilization management organizations.  Additionally, as the result of her experience as in-house counsel with two hospital systems and a large Blue Cross plan, Katherine possesses unique insight on navigating the operational and practical realities inherent in complex and highly regulated organizations.  Katherine frequently speaks at key forums, including those hosted by ASHRM, RIMS, PLUS, IAPP, NetDiligence and the American Health Lawyers Association.  Katherine holds a BA from the State University of New York at Albany and received her law degree from Temple University School of Law.
