Biography
Joy LaHuta is the Head of Claims for RenaissanceRe in Bermuda. Joy is responsible for leading the claims group and working closely with the underwriting teams to align claims service and strategy across RenaissanceRe’s global platforms. Prior to joining Renaissance Re, Joy managed claim teams at Iron-Starr and headed the Torus Re/Insurance Claim department where she engaged underwriters and clients across various lines of business on the direct and reinsurance side, while also building teams and managing high profile primary and excess claims. Previously, Joy also designed and implemented unique back-office infrastructure in Gurgaon, India introducing more efficient and marketable claim departments for startup Bermuda markets. Joy began her career at AIG in New York handling environmental claims and later managed teams of adjusters handling multiple product lines for the U.S. Eastern Region. Joy holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and a M.Sc. from Lund University in Sweden.
