Gwen Gatson-Long is a Senior Claims Specialist for Gallagher Bassett, specializing in construction defect claims. She proudly holds her CCP designation, earned through Claims College, reflecting her expertise and commitment to professional growth.
Gwen’s dedication to diversity and inclusion is a defining aspect of her career and community work. As a Local Board Member for Girl Scouts USA, she co-chaired the Pluralism Committee, where she led efforts to develop and implement inclusive policies. Additionally, as a certified diversity awareness facilitator, she trained board members, leaders, and staff to foster inclusivity.
Since 2015, Gwen has been an active member of the CLM Diversity Community and Construction Community, contributing to initiatives that promote equity and collaboration within the industry. She has also served on diversity panels for CLM local and national events, sharing her insights and advocating for inclusive practices. Gwen co-authored an article for the CLM Construction Claims magazine, addressing diversity in hiring practices.
Gwen co-founded Advocates for Valley African American Students (AVAAS), a parent advocacy organization that empowers families to navigate pathways to higher education and fulfilling careers. Under her leadership, AVAAS launched the AVAAS Career Academy, which collaborates with the Invest program to introduce students to 21st Century Hybrid Workforce careers and supports career entry or re-entry for adults.
In the insurance industry, Gwen has been a trailblazer for inclusion. As a former Charter Board Member of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) Los Angeles Chapter, she helped lay the foundation for fostering diversity within the sector. Today, she continues this mission as an active member of Gallagher Bassett’s Inclusion Champion Network (ICN), driving initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion both within the organization and the broader community.
