Biography

With close to two decades of litigation experience, Charles concentrates his practice on claims involving premises liability, product liability, professional liability, trucking and transportation, construction defect, homeowner association disputes, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, and other liability claims. Charles also has a breadth of real estate errors and omissions experience, having managed and resolved claims on behalf of large national property management and brokerage firms as well as real estate professionals. In addition to his effective claims management skills, Charles' clients benefit from his background in navigating complex contractual issues and regulatory compliance in order to limit exposure and develop effective resolution strategies.

Before joining the firm, Charles was of counsel with a leading defense litigation firm based in New York, where he managed a significant litigation liability caseload. Charles is an active member of the South Carolina Bar, serving on several committees, including as the current chair of the Professional Liability Committee. He also clerked for a South Carolina Circuit Court Judge his first year after law school and then went into practice as a plaintiffs' lawyer, which gives him a broader mindset in evaluating claims and recommending early resolution strategies.

Charles earned his B.A. from the University of South Carolina and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was an editor for the University of South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business.
