Peter Biging

Biography

Peter Biging is a partner at Goldberg Segalla LLP, where he heads up the firm’s Management and Professional Liability defense practice in the New York metropolitan area, and serves as Co-Chair for the firm's nationwide M&PL Practice.  He is an experienced trial lawyer, with more than 30 years of experience in the state and federal courts of New York, and a skilled appellate lawyer, who has successfully argued appeals in New York’s First and Second Departments, the Court of Appeals, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  His successes have led him to be AV rated by Martindale Hubbell (their highest rating), and to repeated recognition as a New York Super Lawyer (which honor was again bestowed on him in 2021).  Peter’s practice areas include defense of errors and omissions claims against a wide variety of professionals, defense of all manner of directors and officers liability claims, as well as employment practices litigation on the side of management, and commercial litigation.  He also handles insurance coverage work for both E&O and D&O.  Peter is a past Chair of the American Bar Association’s Professional Liability Insurance Committee and the Professional Liability Defense Federation’s Insurance Agent/Broker Claims Defense Committee.  He currently serves as Chair of the ABA's Media, Privacy and Advertising Law Committee, and as Secretary for  the PLDF Board of Directors.  In addition to his work as a trial and appellate lawyer, Peter is a prolific author and lecturer, whose publications have appeared regularly in the the ABA Magazine The Brief, the ABA TIPS Journal, the PLUS Journal, DRI’s For the Defense, and numerous industry trade publications.  He can be reached at pbiging@goldbergsegalla.com.
