Jennifer Berard

Biography

Jennifer Berard is a Director of Claims at CNA.  Her 15 year background in professional liability includes private practice as well as primary and excess/reinsurance claims in multiple lines of business including medical malpractice and lawyers malpractice.

After graduating from law school in 1996, Jennifer began her career in the medical malpractice defense group at a Kansas City firm, Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin.  Several years later she moved in-house at the General Counsel's office of a Kansas City hospital, Truman Medical Center, doing both claims and litigation as well as administration of its self insurance trust.  Jennifer thereafter accepted a position at GE-ERC (now Swiss Re) managing excess and reinsurance hospital claims, and she eventually moved within that company to the lawyers malpractice group.  She recently accepted a position as a Director in CNA's Strategic Claims Unit, which services several professional lines of business including lawyer's malpractice, accountants, real estate agents and design professionals.

Jennifer is a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bar associations and maintains a license in both states.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and her law degree from Washburn University School of Law.  Additionally, she has obtained her CPCU designation and is the Educational Chair of the Kansas City Chapter of the CPCU Society.
