Elizabeth Haar is the president and CEO of AF Group
Founded in 1912, AF Group (Lansing, Mich.) and its subsidiaries are a premier provider of innovative insurance solutions. Rated “A-” (Excellent) by A.M. Best, AF Group is a nationally recognized holding company conducting business through its brands: Accident Fund, United Heartland, CompWest and Third Coast Underwriters.
Haar began her career in the insurance industry as an actuary with positions at Michigan Millers Mutual and Citizens Insurance. She joined Accident Fund Insurance Company of America as chief actuary and went on to hold additional chief executive positions in strategy, underwriting, audit, marketing, business development and operations. In 2005, Haar was named president and CEO of Accident Fund Insurance Company of America. After executing several acquisitions and expansion initiatives, the company created the umbrella and parent organization, Accident Fund Holdings (now AF Group), and Haar was appointed the President and CEO.
As an active community and industry leader, Haar currently enjoys volunteering and serving on the board of directors of the American Red Cross, American Insurance Association, and serves as a member of the Advisory Committee for the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan. Previously, Haar held leadership positions on the boards of the National Council of Compensation Insurance and the Griffith Foundation, as well as several local non-profit organizations.
Haar holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan, Dearborn and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.
