Biography
Since January 2023, Maxwell Brusky is the Director, Claims Management for Bulkmatic, LLC, a national and international (Canada and Mexico) dry bulk goods hauler. He is accountable for Auto Liability, Workers Compensation, the company's Equipment Physical Damage program, insurance and risk management support, driver and operational safety support, and other legal items. He has practiced law and managed litigation for over 20 years in the areas trucking and transportation claims defense, insurance coverage, and subrogation first with the Chicago Transit Authority and then with two Chicago insurance defense firms and then as the owner and operator for eight years of a solo litigation practice in Chicago’s western suburbs. Over that time, Max tried 16 cases to verdict and appeared and argued several times in the Illinois Appellate Court.
Prior to joining Bulkmatic, Max was an Assistant Branch Manager in Gallagher Bassett Specialty’s Transportation Practice Major Case Unit, which was established in 2020 with Max as one of the two initial team members. Prior to joining GB Specialty, Max was the Director, Claims Management for almost 5 years for a national trucking company with 4,000 power units dispatched from terminals across the lower 48 United States. In that role, he led a team that was responsible for liability claims, workers compensation claims, administration of the company’s self-insured equipment physical damage program, insurance program administration, as well as claim intake and reporting, tracking, and rapid response.
Max is also a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC) and Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC). Over his career, he has given numerous talks, lectures, and webinars on many, many claims defense and transportation topics. He has been variously involved in several bar associations and industry groups. At GB, his team was awarded TPA Team of the Year in Business Insurance’s 2021 U.S. Insurance Awards.
