Biography

Marlin Howes is Senior Litigation Counsel with Southern California Gas Company, the nation’s largest natural gas utility. He handles various types of cases including catastrophic injury, contract disputes, toxic tort and wildfire litigation. Depending on the complexity of a case, Mr. Howes will handle it in-house through trial or partner with outside counsel.

Mr. Howes received his Bachelor’s degree from California State University Fullerton and his Juris Doctor degree from University of San Diego School of Law. Following law school, Mr. Howes worked at various law firms specializing in civil litigation defense for 12 years. He then joined Sempra Energy in 2000 as a senior litigation attorney, handling litigation for both Public Utilities Commission regulated utilities and business units not under PUC jurisdiction. Approximately five years ago Sempra Energy reorganized its law department; as part of that reorganization, Mr. Howes moved into Southern California Gas Company.
