Jeffrey Ammons

Biography

Born the son of a Methodist minister and an elementary school teacher, I had the blessing of growing up in a large family with two brothers and two sisters.  As happens with many preachers’ families, we moved every few years across the upstate of South Carolina, and during each move, the family bond strengthened. 

Over the years, family has remained the centerpiece of my life.  I had the honor of marrying my college sweetheart, Lesley, and we were blessed two beautiful daughters, Sarah Jane and Emilee.  My family is the joy of my life.  When not at work, I can usually be found on the sidelines at volleyball and softball games, in the audience at dance competitions and recitals, and in the grandstands at horse shows.

While it is sometimes difficult to live so far from family, we have been fortunate to find a close substitute in Goldsboro.  Our church family is St. Paul United Methodist Church where Lesley and I started and led an adult Sunday school class for parents in their late 20s to early 40s.  The Church has blessed us immeasurably, and we continue our efforts to serve through our activities on numerous boards and committees.

In addition to church activities, we also see the need for service within the broader community.  Over the years, I have served on the Ethics Committee at Wayne Memorial Hospital where we grappled with end-of-life and other difficult ethical issues.  I currently serve on the Advisory Board for Salvation Army, the Board of Trustees for Wayne Country Day School, and the Committee for Young Life of Wayne County.
