Biography

Chris Cotterell is the co-founder and CEO of Safeonline LLP, a leading Lloyd’s of London insurance broker, which specialises in Cyber, Technology E&O, Financial, Professional and Intellectual Property liabilities.

Having started his career in insurance back in 1984 as a North American property broker, Chris joined Marsh & McLennan in 1987. In 1990 he joined Johnson & Higgins to set up a financial institutions division, specialising in Worldwide liability risks, Crime, Kidnap & Ransom and Malicious product tamper and recall.

Chris left to start Safeonline in 1998, as a specialist insurance intermediary focused on the Digital and Ecommerce industries. Following a management buy-out, it became a Limited Liability Partnership in 2006.

Safeonline has grown and shifted its focus to become the leading Cyber broker in the London market, with the biggest solely dedicated team of Cyber and Technology brokers. Safeonline also specialises in Financial, Professional, Prize Indemnity and IP liability, with a dedicated team that has unrivalled contacts and specialist knowledge in the market.

Safeonline works with retail and wholesale brokers, Lloyd’s and London underwriters, as well as external technology and professional organisations to create bespoke policies and products for small and large enterprises.

Safeonline’s size means it can access a wide variety of insurance markets, and achieve the most competitive cover and price for all manner of risks, for clients across 80 territories worldwide.
