Biography
MELANIE M. BROWN, J.D. has extensive experience with coverage and defense of Professional Liability and General Liability claims. She has been a Director of Professional Liability at Markel Services, Incorporated overseeing a team of managers and examiners handling Architects & Engineers, Construction Defect, Medical Malpractice/Healthcare, and Environmental matters nationwide. She has also handled Agents & Brokers, Miscellaneous E&O, Products Liability, and Legal Malpractice claims. Prior to joining Markel in 2008, Melanie practiced law in Chicago for 11 years. During that time, she focused on professional liability, commercial litigation, and pharmaceutical products liability and was most recently with the firm of Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold LLP where she actively participated in mediations, arbitrations, and trials. Melanie graduated from the University of Virginia with Distinction and received her Juris Doctor from Washington & Lee University. Melanie is an avid tennis player and reader.
