Daniel Loo, CPP is a veteran security consultant and founder of North Star Group, a Texas-based firm specializing in physical security, forensic security, and enterprise risk management. With over 20 years of experience in protective intelligence, threat assessments, and environmental design, Daniel provides expert guidance to public and private sector clients across critical infrastructure, education, healthcare, and faith-based institutions.
Daniel’s primary focus includes forensic consulting in negligent security and premises liability cases, where he is routinely engaged to assess whether a property owner or operator met their duty of care. His work includes site inspections, CPTED analysis, policy and access control reviews, and expert opinion on whether the security measures in place were reasonable, foreseeable, and industry-appropriate. He works with both plaintiffs and defendants to bring objective clarity to complex litigation.
In addition to forensic work, Daniel is a cleared school safety consultant through the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC), offering security audits, EOP development, and CPTED-based redesign for K-12 districts. He holds board certifications including Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Specialist (PSS), and Security Risk Management Professional (SRMP).
Daniel is a member of ASIS International, CLM, and several professional security working groups. He is also a 100% service-disabled veteran, bringing mission focus and operational discipline to every engagement.
At the core of Daniel’s work is a commitment to protecting people, improving safety environments, and helping clients make informed, defensible decisions in both proactive planning and post-incident response.
