Rita Gunning

Biography

Rita received her licensed Practical Nursing Certification from Central Alabama Community College.  Rita has 16 years experience in occupational health nursing and occupational health, safety, and fleet management for the poultry industry.  She has recently been issued the Certified Director of Safety Credential (CDS) issued by the North American Transportation Management Institute.  Rita is currently attending Columbia Southern University to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Health and Safety and will be completing the Associate Safety Professional Certification and the Certified Safety Professional Certification within the next two years.  Rita is a member of the North American Transportation Management Institute as well as the National Private Truck Council.  She is currently employed by Koch Foods as the Corporate Fleet Safety Director following the positon of Complex Safety Manager and Complex Nurse.  Rita serves as the designated employer representative for Koch Foods and is responsible for the employment, retention, management and safety of approximately 360 commercial drivers, 200 non-commercial drivers and has the responsibility of overseeing the maintenance of approximately 800 pieces of equipment spread across five states.   Rita has been awarded for achievements and contributions made in safety from U.S. Poultry and has received awards for fleet safety management from the National Private Truck Council.  Rita has served as the facilitator for fleet safety meetings for the poultry industry sponsored by U.S. Poultry and has assisted with the publication of fleet safety videos provided to the poultry industry by U.S. Poultry.
