Biography

Carmella is an Associate in the New York City office. She has over 30 years of experience in structured settlements, and specializes in high exposure cases, including medical malpractice, product liability, trucking accidents and other catastrophic injury claims.She has been a pioneer in the use of periodic payments in non-traditional cases, such as sexual harassment, employment discriminations and financial institutions. As an expert in her field, Carmella is frequently called on as a speaker and lecturer by industry organizations, including the New York State Bar Association , the New York Mediator’s Conference and as a guest panelist for the CLM Annual conference.. Additionally, she has trained judges in the use of special needs trusts and structured settlements.Other accomplishments include implementing and writing training manuals on structured settlements, Medicare set-asides, special needs trusts and the art of negotiation for several major insurance companies.Carmella’s knowledge and background in the medical field and her expertise in the economics of life care plans have established her as a recognized expert on personal injury cases by members of the bar and insurance claims managers involved in general liability cases.By using settlement annuity tools, such as sub-standard age ratings, special needs and other trusts, Carmella can design settlement annuity plans that provide the greatest benefits to injured parties. These financial plans provide protection and guaranteed tax-free income to injured persons, often for life.She is a member of the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA)  including the NSSTA Women's Cauccus and DEIB committee, and a Certified Structured Settlement Consultant (CSSC), having received that designation from NSSTA in concert with the University of Notre Dame. Carmella is also a member of the National Association of Insurance Women.
