Biography

Mr. Ebel is President of Selective Settlements International, Inc., a subsidiary of Sedgwick, and Sr. Vice President of Sedgwick. He is responsible for the growth, development and performance of the structured settlement business within the Sedgwick group. Jim started his business career with Wausau Insurance Company, where he worked in several claim management positions. In 1986, he joined Toplis & Harding, an international loss adjusting company, as Midwest Regional Manager. In 1990, he became President and CEO of Toplis and Harding North America. In 1994, he facilitated a joint venture with McLarens, an international loss adjusting company based in London. This resulted in a worldwide company, McLarens Toplis, with 350 offices in 81 counties around the world. In 2001, Jim acquired Selective Settlements from its founder, Lee Rask, who had started the company in 1978. Sedgwick acquired Selective Settlements in May, 2011. Jim's current focus is to integrate the structured settlement operation into the overall claim handling process for our clients. Sedgwick can now offer our clients a unique opportunity to tackle claim settlements using a very effective settlement tool promoted by some of the most experienced settlement consultants in the industry. Our settlement expertise ranges from MSAs to large settlement projects. Jim earned his CPCU in 1980 and has an ARM designation. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the structured settlement trade association, NSSTA. To learn more about structured settlements, go to our web site, ww.selectivesettlements.com or our industry web site, www.NSSTA.com.
