Biography

Howard Altschule has been a meteorologist for more than 24 years and is the founder/Managing Member of Forensic Weather Consultants.  He is the recipient of the coveted "Certified Consulting Meteorologist” (C.C.M.) designation from the American Meteorological Society, the highest certification a consulting meteorologist can receive.  As one of the largest weather expert firms in the country, he has built a team of meteorologists and has consulted on 6,000 insurance claims/lawsuits.  Howard testified at trials at least 92 times in various supreme, criminal and federal courts in New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Florida, Maryland, Tennessee, California and others, and has been deposed 54 other times.  Howard’s research and affidavits are often cited in Supreme and Federal Court decisions.  Based out of New York, Howard and his team work on incidents including Slip and Falls on Snow/Ice or Wet Floors, Hail Damage Claims, Hurricane Wind (Wind v. Storm Surge) cases, MVA’s, High Wind / Wind-Property Damage Claims, Floods, Boating Accidents, and others.

Using official weather records, high-resolution Doppler radar and new technology, Howard is able to determine the past weather conditions for any specific incident location and provides written reports, affidavits, deposition and trial testimony.  Lfirms, insurance carriers, adjusters, and engineers regularly call on Howard and his team to assist with their claims and lawsuits.  Howard is a member of the American Meteorological Society and was appointed to the New York State Governor’s Panel on Homeowner Insurance Coverage.  He is a continuing education instructor and speaks about forensic meteorology and its applications in the insurance, legal and engineering industry.  With staff comprised of Consulting Meteorologists, a Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM), and a Computer Modeler, we provide past weather records, in-depth meteorological analyses, written expert reports, affidavits and deposition/trial testimony all across the United States and Internationally.
