Carolyn Agee

Biography

Carolyn Agee is a fifteen-year veteran in the risk management industry with focus in the Life Science and Chemical arenas, specifically providing risk analysis and management controls in the manufacturing of chemical fertilizers. During her nearly 10-year career at Chubb Group of Insurance-Chicago, Carolyn held several positions in the area of risk control and served as the direct liaison to the Technology Insurance Specialty underwriting group, with focus in the Life Science and Information Network Technology client base. She has a strong technical background in product liability coverage; in addition to her knowledge of general casualty and property insurance.  This coupled with her education background in Biological Sciences and Chemistry, allowed her the ability to provide clients with risk control resources and recommendations, in an effort to provide the clients insurance procurement solutions.  Additionally, she managed the Business Income and Disaster Recovery consultations for the Midwest region, and published internal technical articles and Computer Based Training Modules focused on Property and Worker’s Compensation exposures and controls for the technology discipline. Within the last 5 years Carolyn was the North American Risk Manager for Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA.  She was responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the company’s risk management function for 10, US based entities. She is currently the Director of Risk Management at CF Industries, and manages the company’s local and international insurance programs. In her leadership role she identifies and assesses the various risks to the Company’s assets and evaluates how these risks can be prevented, assumed, transferred or insured.  Additionally, she is works directly with legal counsel on various types of claims; through evaluation of insurance coverage, potential procurement of supersedeas bonds for legal appeals, and economic analysis. Through collaboration across business areas, Carolyn recently pivoted the company’s risk assessment program to that of an Enterprise Risk Assessment program. Carolyn’s view on risk management is best illustrated through a quote by Theodore Roosevelt: “Risk is like fire: If controlled it will help you; if uncontrolled it will rise up and destroy you.”
