Michael Johnson

Biography

Michael Johnson is the lead Inland Marine Underwriter and Construction Specialist in the New York office of QBE. Among his recent accomplishments, Michael collaborated on product development of QBE’s proprietary Builder’s Risk form. Michael started his career with Fireman’s Fund American Insurance Company as an Underwriting Trainee over 25 years ago. At such time, he trained and worked in FFIC’s Falls Church, Virginia, office. His training was expedited due to the need of Property/Package underwriters for the territory. After completing FFIC’s two-year training program, he transferred to the insurer’s New Jersey office where he developed an interest in learning all lines of commercial business outside of Property and General Liability coverages. While at Royal Sun Alliance, Michael served as Lead Property Underwriter for the Elmsford Branch, where his duties also included participating in field audits. At CNA, he moved from Multi Line to Inland Marine underwriting. In addition to underwriting, Michael also was responsible for mentoring trainees and providing cross-sell guidance within the organization. Michael is a member of IMUA and hold the designation of CRIS through IRMI.
