Biography

Douglas P. Skelley is a Member at Shidlofsky Law Firm PLLC. His practice involves representing and counseling corporate policyholders in insurance coverage and insurance-related litigation. He handles a wide variety of insurance coverage cases, including those arising from construction defect and product liability claims. Doug also represents corporate policyholders in first-party property insurance coverage disputes.

Doug is a member of the Insurance Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, where he currently serves as Treasurer on the Council and is Editor of Right Off The Press, an e-mail distributing recent Texas cases bearing on insurance law. Doug also is on the Council for the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, serving as the Insurance Liaison. In addition, he is a member of the Construction Law Section of the Austin Bar Association. He is the co-author and a presenter of several articles and seminar papers for continuing legal education seminars in Texas.

Doug has been named as a "Rising Star" in Texas Monthly Magazine each year since 2010 and was named one of the Top 100 Up and Coming Lawyers in the State of Texas in 2019 and 2020. He also was named an "Associate to Watch" by Chambers USA in 2013 and 2014 and as a Top Attorney for Insurance each year since 2015.

Doug graduated cum laude from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies. Doug also graduated cum laude from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering and also was a member of Chi Epsilon, the Civil Engineering Honor Society.
