Samuel J. Shapiro received his law degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1994 and is admitted to practice in State of New York, as well as the Federal Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Since joining the firm in 1996, Mr. Shapiro's practice has been dedicated to the defense of complex, high exposure medical malpractice matters on behalf of several major New York area hospital systems and medical practices. Among the matters that Mr. Shapiro has recently successfully defended are the following: allegations of the wrongful death of a teenaged patient stemming from the claimed improper management of liver carcinoma; claims of alleged negligence arising from the embolization of a patient's anterior choroidal artery, thereby resulting in a stroke and catastrophic neurologic injuries; claims arising from the performance of a corpus callosotomy, which allegedly led to severe neurologic and cognitive damage; allegations of wrongful death due to alleged pre- and post-operative mismanagement following a craniotomy; and allegations of orthopedic malpractice involving claimed mismanagement of an infected hip prosthesis, thereby resulting in a total leg amputation.
