Matt Kovacs

Biography

Matt is a Manager in the Construction Claims unit of Markel and is based out of Woodland Hills, California.  He manages a team of claims specialists responsible for resolving claims of diverse exposure types and sizes, including traditional construction defect, worksite injury, ongoing operations, and general liability.  Matt's team handles claims throughout the Gulf South and Western United States with a focus on Texas-based claims.  He specializes is evaluating coverages through a wide variety of policy forms and types on both the primary and excess levels.  Matt’s professional claims experience includes handling construction claims on both the primary and excess levels. Prior to joining Markel, Matt enjoyed a multi-jurisdicational law practice litigating environmental, toxic tort, construction defect, and medical malpractice cases.  Matt received his undergraduate degree from Trinity University in San Antonio.  He earned his Juris Doctor degree from University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
