Biography

Eric J. Marler is a property and casualty insurance executive with more than two decades of experience leading claims organizations, driving operational transformation, and improving underwriting profitability. He currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Chief Claims Officer for Nautilus Insurance Group (a Berkley Company). In that role, Eric oversees enterprise claims strategy, reserving, litigation management, regulatory compliance, and claims operations across a national P&C portfolio. He specializes in aligning claims strategy with underwriting and financial objectives, leveraging analytics and technology to improve outcomes, and building high-performing teams.

A recognized thought leader within the insurance industry, Eric is a frequent speaker at national conferences and industry forums, including events hosted by the Claims and Litigation Management
Alliance, the American Bar Association, and leading insurance technology organizations. His presentations frequently focus on litigation trends, claims innovation, artificial intelligence, and technology-enabled claims transformation. 

Prior to joining Nautilus, Eric served as Head of Claims for Counterpart⁠, Inc., a tech-enabled managing general agent (MGA) specializing in management and professional liability insurance for small and medium-sized businesses. He has also held senior leadership positions with The Hanover Insurance Group and Great American Insurance Group. Eric began his career in private legal practice, where he specialized in advising carriers on complex insurance coverage matters and bad faith exposures. He earned his J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law and his B.S. in Psychology from the University of Iowa.
