David Bassi

Biography

David Bassi is an Executive Director within the Financial Services Office of EY’s Advisory practice. He focuses on helping insurers take advantage of opportunities in a changing world, often leveraging technology, data and analytics.
He has over twenty years of experience in the global insurance industry, holding executive roles in Analytics, Risk Management, Underwriting, Loss Control, Innovation and Reserving. 

Experience
Mr. Bassi has led international professionals responsible for product strategy, underwriting oversight, and analysis for a global division of a major reinsurer. Supporting those efforts he launched a research and development unit focused on developing tools to enable the underwriting of
diverse risks.
He has led strategic change initiatives focused on developing and deploying innovative technology to support and enhance loss control, claims, underwriting and strategic portfolio management for a major international insurer. In support of those efforts he led the redesign of processes, tools and organizations to better utilize data and analysis to improve insurance outcomes for both the insurer and its clients.
He has provided executive leadership for pricing, product management and actuarial functions for a US regional insurer. He restructured Underwriting, Product Management and Actuarial departments to increase collaboration and increase the analytical skill level within the organization.
Mr. Bassi has spoken at insurance industry events on topics such as emerging risks, Blockchain, big data and the insurance cycle. He is also a contributing author for Insurance Thought Leadership where he has written on the transformative potential of technology, data and analytics for the insurance industry.
Mr. Bassi ‘s work with industry experts, entrepreneurs and academicians has contributed to the development of innovative approaches to managing and quantifying insurance risk.
