Biography

Jeanne Lenzer is an independent medical investigative journalist and former Knight Science Journalism fellow.  She trained as a physician associate at Duke University and is a former senior clinical policy analyst with the Institute for Family Health, New York.  Her book, The Danger Within Us: America’s Untested, Unregulated Medical Device Industry and One Man’s Battle to Survive It, has received praise from notables such as Bernard Lown, emeritus cardiologist at Harvard, recipient of the Nobel Prize and inventor of the cardiac defibrillator, as well as Marcia Angell, former editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine and author of The Truth About Drug Companies. Lenzer is a regular contributor to the international medical journal, The BMJ.  Her articles, reviews, and commentary have appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, The New Republic, Discover, Slate, Washington Monthly, The Scientist, The (London) Independent, USA Today, Newsweek Japan, and Mother Jones.
